The Windows Are In

This post is all about the pictures. There is really not much to tell, except that our front windows are in. The glass company missed ordering one of the windows, but that will arrive and be installed next week. The front of the building is so beautiful. Now we get to wait for the doors and final trim work.

We Are Getting Closer

This has been an exciting week for the renovation. We replaced a section of brick on the back of the building, braced the lobby crown and our sign was hung.

There was a section on the back of the building that was repaired earlier in the project with new bricks. We were not happy with how the new bricks looked next to the old ones, so we decided to have the masons come back to replace that section with salvaged brick from the staircase.

A couple of extra steel columns allowed us to add some support to the lobby crown. We braced the crown with the columns, which will be hid in the sheet rock. Once we completed the additional support, all of the clamps, chains and ropes were released. The crown didn't budge an inch. We are pleased with the strength and beauty of this architectural art piece.

Our front sign was hung on Tuesday. The identification is wonderful, but we are just excited to have our beautiful sign hanging for everyone on Main Street to see.

At this point in the renovation, completed projects are very appearant causing our downtown neighbors to make frequent visits to check on progress. We are expecting our new windows next week, which will be the biggest transformation yet.

Let There Be Light ... windows & electricity!

The electrical service is almost complete. The electrician came in to hang the exterior boxes and the interior panels. We were waiting on a few additional items and then electrical service will be done. The next step will be pulling wire throughout the building, placing electrical boxes and connecting everything together.

Windows for the front of the building are on their way! The first piece of window casing is done, so the window maker was able to take measurements for the new glass. We expect them to arrive in about a week and a half. The community of Windsor is very excited to see the wood come down from the front of the building. They are in for a big surprise when they are finally able to see the progress inside the building.
